Who We Are
Joel has been working in the mapping sector for over five years, and has developed a broad skill set including GIS, Website Design, SEO, Data Collection, and Project Management. Joel particularly enjoys working on projects that affect the world we interact with, such as municipal infrastructure mapping and website design for community groups and small businesses.
Joel received his Bachelor of Science from the University of Victoria in 2010, where he specialized in GIS and Spatial Statistics, collaborating on field research such as historical glacier extents, spectral snow-pack measurements, and kayak mounted sonar mapping.
Jen brings over five years experience in community development and planning. Her work includes collaborating with non-profits, local and provincial governments, businesses and communities. Jen is a skilled coordinator, researcher and writer. She enjoys working with community groups to identify their needs, envision their future, develop goals, and implement practical strategies. Jen is particularly passionate about local food systems, non-profit social enterprises, and sustainable community development.
Academically, Jen holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Victoria. Her research areas included social indicators and their relationship to urban forestry, community asset mapping, Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Professionally, she applies her research and analytical skills to business planning, organizational development, and grant writing.
Jen currently manages a year-round Farmers’ Market, sits as a Councillor for the Town of Creston, is the Alternate Director of RDCK Area C, and works with a number of community organizations on an as needed basis. She is an active community builder in the central Kootenay region of BC.
Jesse is an energetic and skilled facilitator, grant writer, and project coordinator who is passionate about creating vibrant and accessible communities for people of all abilities, ages, and backgrounds. He has led multiple projects and workshops bringing together local government, first nations, non-profits, educators, and social service providers to develop common strategic visions, particularly for youth and people with special needs.
Jesse holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Victoria, after which time he travelled and worked as an English teacher in Japan throughout 2009 and 2010. Returning to Creston in 2011, Jesse began passionately working to support Creston area youth and has been closely involved in various initiatives, including several successful grant applications supporting youth projects in the Creston area.
Jesse currently works as a support worker for peoples with disabilities, sits on the Trails for Creston Valley Society Board of Directors, and continues to be involved with youth projects in the Creston area.
